Circumerro Media Participates in Green Panel
Circumerro Media participated in a recent panel aimed at presenting specific solutions for local businesses looking to adopt sustainable and green practices. The series of talks, dubbed “Green = Green: Sustainability and the Bottom Line,” focuses on sharing challenges, lessons, goals and tips from panelists. Representing Circumerro Media, Latham Jenkins shared resources for abandoning a dependence on paper and embracing a digital work flow.
A few paper consumption facts:
• The average American uses seven trees per year in paper, wood, and other products made from trees. This amounts to about 2,000,000,000 trees per year!
• Approximately 1 billion trees worth of paper are thrown away every year in the U.S.
• Americans use 85,000,000 tons of paper per year; about 680 pounds per person.
• The average household throws away 13,000 separate pieces of paper each year.
Some practical solutions:
• Google Docs
• Electronic Proofing
• Electronic Faxing
Embracing a digital workflow allows businesses of all sizes to lower costs with paper, toner, wear & tear on machines; as well as decrease the amount of paper flowing into the recycling bin and speeding up communications.
Scott Fitzgerald from Fitzgerald’s Bicycles also presented information on the importance of creating a solid and sustainable mission statement, using online point-of-sales tools for ordering inventory, and reducing office waste overall.
